The sabbatical week is coming to an end.... so sad. i love sabbats, but this is going to be my last, so i treasure it a lot. well basically, i signed up for the sabbat called "economics for teens", which is basically on well.. economics. (duh) of course i had my own motive in going for this one. firstly is quite obvious, i need ace for ih. but den the most impt reason is that i want to see how econs is like, cos im considering taking it as a subject in jc. so but choosing it as a sabbat, i can see whether i like it. if its postive, den i can take it as a subject in jc, and this will provide me with the basic foundation. if i dun like it, den i can give it up. well so after 4 days of econs, wad is my conclusion? erms well, my answer is "nothing", i can't come to a conclusion. cos like im not sure lor... i think its very interesting, but sometimes i can't really grasp the concept, so i guess if i take it den mebbe (most likely) i will face some difficulties in studying it. so wad can i say? let time and fate decide. lol.
Well the sabbat was interesting, we learnt abt things like the 10 principles of economics, supply and demand, measuring a nation's income, tools of finance... and such. there were concepts like adam smith's devision of labour, postive and normative analysis, the production possibility frontier (ppf), indiosycratic and aggregate risk, compounding and blah blah blah. so it was really fun. the only sad thing is dat we have to face up to the reality dat even financial geniuses are largely unable to beat the market. sad. den wad's the point of economics? but nvm... as least i think learning it will enable us to be more aware of stuff when financial advisors try to con us.
oh and i forgot to mention abt limmy! hes so pro in econs! well basically there were only four sec 4s in this sabbat, and all from lep. lol. they are: me, limmy, xiaolong and yechao. limmy was so pro.. he impressed everyone on the first day with his superb analytical skills. den today, he made history yet again. let me explain: since me and limmy sit together, we were grouped together with a sec 3 who calls himself leecher for the daily presentation assignment. den out of the 8 groups, we were the only one who got 5/5 for each of the items (pricing policy) while the other groups only managed a meer 3/5. such is the pro-ness of our dear limmy! haha.
well, the sabbaticals also brought some weird happenings like the one im going to talk abt. basically, my friend from chij toa payoh (correct or not?) called nerene (correct spelling?)who were part of the exchange tour group to chongqing during the june hols was like asking me on msn how to get to my sch office from the guard house. this was the day before the sabbats. i sent here a map of the sch but i din ask why she wants to go to hci. (or mebbe i din care at that time). den the next day in school, jon goh and i suddenly met her in front of the clock tower. i was quite stunned even though its like i should have expected it. basically she was lost. so jon goh went to class and helped her check the venue for the sabbat she was participating in (which is the mock united nations conference). So well the problem was resolved. but for the next few days, she always stone under the clock tower and keep on half-daoing me when i said hi. ok lor. im used to being daoed. since tmr is the last day of the sabbats le i guess the same would happen. sad.
oh i want to talk abt the little kitten i saw on mon (first day of sabbaticals) on my way to the bus stop in the morning. so cute! it was like whimpering at the grass patch with its big watery eyes. now the problem is dat it is no ordinary street cat. in fact, it was not in the first place. cos the kitten was wearing a cat jacket (or wadever u call it). this means that the cat has an owner but was "disowned" by him. so poor thing. actually i wanted to do something for it like mebbe touch it to give it comfort or some lame action. but den there was this guy there looking at the cat too, so i just went on my way....
dats so cruel of me.
oh yeah, another thing. running parellel to the sabbaticals is the 1st Asia-Pacific Secondary Schools Chinese Debate 2006. well haha it was fun too! in a way, aphelion was forced to attend the prelims and semis of the debate, so we had to go, but for me i went quite willingly. the 2 matches we watched were both hwachong vs other schools, the first being kuan rou sec sch (the most famous Chinese school in m'ysia) and the second being a school from taiwan. honestly, the prelim match with kuan rou was not very interesting, so i shall not talk much abt it. we almost lost actually, and i personally think that kuan rou was slightly better than us. well but nvm. so we got in the semi-finals, which we totally thrashed the taiwan team. in the first debate, our free speaker wenjun sort of screwed up. however this time round, he bounced back with confidence and successfully ousted the taiwanese free speaker. oh i forgot to mention, the taiwan team was the propo and we were the oppo. of course our third speaker ma xiao was the best. he entertained the audience with his powerful voice and charisma. once, ma xiao even made a witty comment that sent the taiwanese third speaker (who was their best) for a moment, lost for words. so obviously, our team emerged victorious. on the other hand, the other semis round was fought between nanyang girls and yue qing from China. sadly, ny lost to yue qing, so our opponents in the finals will be yue qing. the finals will be held tmr... but i wun be present to witness the great competition, cos well i have cca. but well its ok lah, nvm.
actually i want to talk abt the san guo yan yi oil painting exhibition that was held last week, but its a bit de late now, so i guess there wun be a chance, cos i seldom blog. so dats all, bye!
