Hi, everyone. Today is the eve of Teachers' Day. Yay! Finally some nice rest after a stressful term and before the upcoming EOY exams. After arriving in school in the morning, i went straight to the staffroom to give my presents to the respective teachers. Actually its only 3 teachers... cos i was contrained by time and money when i bought the gifts. ) : So eventually, i gave Mr Sim a cup, Mrs Teng a glass ornament and Mrs Seck a candle.
Anyway, after this and the flag-raising ceremony, i went to Kah Kee Hall to watch the celebrations, which was essentially quite *uninteractive*. I think even the teachers were a little bored, as there were too many rock band performances (no offence to those people). Of course, there were still some nice performances, like the one by Dao Teng (shao4 nian2 song) for the Hwa Chong Idol competition. Since there was nothing much to watch, I sat with boon wei from 3E, reading sun1 zi3 bing1 fa3 as well as crapping all the way. lol.
So after the celebrations had ended, i met up with yong lin. Since it was quite early, we thought of going back home to bathe and change first before going back to St. Anthony's. However, soon we realised that we did not prepare any present for Mrs Yacob... so we decided to go to West Mall first before going home. We took 852 from school, which proved to be as wise choice... 852 was like speeding all the way. In all, the journey was less than 15 min! A bit siao... this was half the usual time needed. Anyway, after comtemplating for quite a long time, we decided on giving Mrs Yacob a mug, a card + artificial flowers.
So after this, we went back home and went to SAPS. Actually after all this, both of us were a little late, since many people from 6-2'02 are already there. Let me see... there were Yueyang, Kai Qing, Li Tang, Pei Zhi , Chung Yan, Mark, Magnus, Shuo Tian, Mikel, Guanwen, Petrina, Angeline, Natalie, Jasmine, Sherwin and Gerald, and also me and Yong Lin. So all of us went to meet Mrs Yacob. We chatted with her for some time, and went to West Mall (again!) for lunch, after which we went to see a movie: The Maid. Hmm, it was quite nice... not that scary afterall. This was my first attempt at watching a horror movie. Haha. But since the movie was about the 7th month and in the Singaporean context, the whole exprerience was very enjoyable. But of cause, there were parts that were scary enough to frighten me.
Hmm... i'm still quite excited about the movie, so i'll give you a synopsis of it. The movie is about a Filipino maid named Rosa who has just arrived in Singapore during the lunar seventh month. The family that she works for lives in a very old shophouse-styled building. Her sir and ma'dam had a retarded son called ah soon, whom in the beginning seemed like a nice person who often played with her. Initially when she arrived, she was very curious about the Chinese customs practised during the 7th month. However, many ghastly things happened to her along the way. After numerous encounters with the ghost, she found out eventually that this was actually the ghost of the previous maid, named Esther.
One day, Rosa heard the sound of a Chinese drum coming from a locked room. She opened it using the keys and was horrified to see that the drum was erm... how to say, shaking? I mean it seems that the drum was being hit by itself. Though Rosa was scared, she took a pair of scissors and thrusted into the drum... only to find that a skeleton inside it --- the remains of Esther. When Rosa turned around, she finally saw Esther face-to-face. By some means, Esther communicated with Rosa and told her about how she died. 2 years ago, Ah Soon had raped Esther while playing with her, despite being retarded. Esther became distraughted and wanted to call the police, but was stopped by the sir and ma'dam, who burned her to death. After he rdeath, Ah Soon was upset (since he liked her) and committed suicide shortly after. (So now, you can see that the present Ah soon was a ghost)
Anyway, Rosa tried to escape after knowing the truth, but was caught by her sir and ma'dam. They tied her up and further elaborated the truth. Their biggest wish was to see Ah soon get married, yet he had already died. The only way that dead people can get married is that a live person must say yes to the marriage before she was killed. So, they planned to kill Rosa and sacrifice her as a wife for ah soon. However, just as Rosa was being hanged (while wearing a traditional Chinese bridal gown), Ah soon suddenly realised that she was not Esther and remembered that the real Esther was already dead. So in a fit of anger, he pushed his father away from Rosa, causing him to knock over the alter accidentally and was burnt to death. Then, Esther freed Rosa (who was being hanged from the ceiling) by buring the rope. Immediately, Rosa escaped out of the house and crossed the road. Upon this, the ma'dam rushed out with a knife and tried to kill her, but she was ran down by a lorry and died while crossing the road. After all this, Rosa went back to the Philippines, carrying the ashes of Esther's remains back.
After watching the movie, the 10 of us, Yueyang, Kai Qing, Li Tang, Pei Zhi, Chung Yan, Guanwen, Petrina, Natalie Yong Lin and I went to CDANS for bowling and Laserquest. I 'm very noob at bowling, so i only mananged a pathetic score of 31 while Guanwen achieved 83. Waa... very diu1 lian3 lor... After this, we went downstairs to play Laserquest! This was my first time playing this, so i was amazed. The 7 girls wanted to play 7 versus 3, in their favour. Luckily the guy in-charge made arrangements, so petrina and litang went over to our side. The guy grouped us into one group of 5 (green), one group of 4 (red) and one mixed group consisting of just Yueyang. lol. Yueyang playing SOLO all the way, no wonder her lights were of mixed colour! Eventually, my ranking was 6th with a score of 260. Yong Lin was the pro-est; he scored almost 1000 points.
So we went home after that. Today was really packed with fun activities, made especially fun since it was spent with ex-classmates. Definitely one of the most relaxing and fun days ever!
